Djavan makes a memorable performance at Rock in Rio.
In your first exclusive participation in the festival, the artist opened the world stage on Saturday, September 10th, with hits such as “Sina,” “Flor de Lis,” “Samurai,” “Oceano,” and many more.
Joined by his band members, Marcelo Mariano (bass & vocals), Felipe Alves (drums), Torcuato Mariano (electric and acoustic guitar), Paulo Calasans (piano and keyboards), Renato Fonseca (keyboards and vocals) Jessé Sadoc (trumpet and flugelhorn), Marcelo Martins (saxophone, flute and vocals) and Rafael Rocha (trombone) – Djavan chose a setlist full of classics.
The performance also included a new visual concept, developed exclusively for the festival by the scenographer Gringo Cardia, which celebrated the diversity of the Brazilian people. The renowned art director selected a notable team of 9 artists – primarily black and indigenous individuals who are breaking through in the contemporary art scene – to create the images projected on the screens.
On the stage, pieces from Heloisa Hariadne, Myllena Araújo, Aislan Pankararu, João Farkas, Pedro Neves, Mulambo, Kuikuros tribe | Takumã, Marcela Cantuária and Raphael Cruz dialogue with the singer’s songs, the photography direction of Cesio Lima, the light drawings from Serginho Almeida and Mari Pitta, complemented by the styling of Roberta Stamato.
