Origem

2024
"Origem" features 12 tracks recorded by Djavan in the early 1970s, before the release of his first original LP, "A voz, o violão e a música de Djavan" (1976).

The project brings together tracks that, until now, had not been available digitally. It includes some of his earliest compositions as well as songs the artist performed for soap opera soundtracks, popular compilations of the era, carnival projects, and singles—a common practice among record labels in the early 1970s.

While Djavan carved out his place in the vibrant landscape of popular music with his mesmerizing talent, Som Livre was establishing its first major artist cultivated from soap opera soundtracks—but not only that. As was typical at the time, the label would commission composers to create specially tailored soundtracks, an ideal environment for new names to emerge, with Djavan rising as the most significant of them all.

“The composers of the 1970s had a significant influence on my later work as a songwriter. I always listened to them a great deal, aiming to satisfy my thirst for diversification. From there, my music and my compositions began to embrace new horizons.”
